Our town house, Casa Lily, is the ideal getaway to peace, quiet and tranquillity. The people of Ostuni are warm and welcoming and you will be staying amongst friendly locals where you will fully experience the Italian way of life. This historic part of town offers an intriguing glimpse into the way Ostuni has grown over the centuries.
This region of Italy is renowned for its wonderful food and you will not have to go far in order to obtain all the various delicious foods on offer. Within a few minutes walk from Casa Lily you will find fresh seafood – clams, mussels, octopus, anchovies, mullet and cod. Locally farmed vegetables are in abundance – asparagus, artichokes, onions, peppers and when in season, freshly picked mushrooms.
We love to go just down the road to the house of cheese “Casa Formaggio” where there is a superb range of cheeses for you to taste before making your purchase.
Each Saturday there is a market, just a ten minute stroll away, where you will find not only a broad range of foods but also clothes, shoes, leather goods and antiques.
Nearer to home and just across the road from Casa Lily you will find Francesco, the local barber, who can give you a wonderful hot towel shave. He will enjoy learning English from you as well as teaching you some Italian!
A five minute walk will bring you to the main square, Piazza della Liberta with its numerous bars and cafés where you can sit and watch the world go by. Here you will also find a wide range of restaurants to choose from if you wish to dine out.
From the main square walk into the Old Quarter where you can explore the many alleyways and streets. Hopefully you will come across the ice cream parlour where you can indulge yourself and maybe also try a mug of thick hot chocolate!
We feel very at home in Ostuni and always look forward to our next visit. We are sure you will feel the same once you experience the culture, people, architecture and the wonderful array of food available in this enchanting location.
